Type of Treatments

In my practice, I use an integrated and relationship-based approach that draws elements from psychoanalysis, attachment theory, practical everyday tools and for children, social skills training.

Individual Adults

Therapy is a private, supportive, neutral and judgment free space. It allows one to put aside his/her/their daily distractions of a busy life, constantly bombarded by information, for 50-minutes a week. It is a safe place to grow mainly as an individual as well as a parent, partner, daughter/son, coworker, etc. For some, who are wanting to dig deeper into their past or are needing to manage a crisis, I offer two meetings per week.

Couples

Just like we learn to regulate ourselves as adult individuals, we need to learn how to do the exact same thing as a couple. Many times moments of dysregulation lead to unresolved conflicts and couples find themselves stepping in the same place, unable to make simple decisions together, and worse doubting whether they ought to stay in the marriage.

Children and Adolescents

It is a big gift for a child or adolescent to have their own therapeutic space to be able to put into words what they are going through day to day or process experiences from the past that they cannot sort out. It is a safe and supportive space for one to talk about conflicts with their peers and parents, while feeling seen, heard and understood.

Parenting / Family

Family Therapy offers support to families undergoing stressful times. Families often seek help after major losses, transitions, sibling rivalry, mental health issues or marital discord. Family therapy is offered for the whole family, only parents, or just siblings. It can be brief, 8-10 sessions or more long term if a family is dealing with an ongoing crisis.

Other Services

Therapy is a journey that allows us to put into words a coherent story about our past and how it affects our present life. Sometimes those old patterns that we develop early on in life not only aren’t helping us but often are destructive. The more we reflect on these patterns and our relationship with ourselves, partners, parents, children, friends, pets, the better we can change these old patterns and can improve our life.

Parenting During COVID-19

The “New Normal” is NOT normal. Quarantine eliminated some of the most rewarding part of work and school: being with colleagues and peers. I have been guiding parents to help their children and each other during these overwhelming and traumatic times. For parents who want to come together, I’m happy to offer an interactive virtual or 6 feet apart meeting(s).

Parents Workshop

My goal is to help you feel more confident as a parent, better understand how your child views the world, learn strategies to support your child’s development and tools to deal with challenging and recurring behaviors. I meet parents in small groups for 8 weekly meetings to discuss sleep issues, sibling rivalry, temper tantrums or challenging behaviors, and set age appropriate limits and expectations. In addition I offer together with other child development therapists dynamic and interactive forums by video/zoom.

Trainee/Associate Supervision

I provide on site supervision for Child and Family Clinicians in training. I am currently a supervisor at Cheerful Helpers Child and Family Center.

On Site School Consulting

I provide teacher training for preschool age children as well observations and consultations when needed.

Mental Health and Coping During COVID-19

Social distancing makes some of us feel isolated and lonely which can result in low energy, reduced motivation and sadness. Given the virus is invisible, we have a hard time evaluating the risks we take once we leave our home. The uncertainty of when, if ever, we will get back to normal can lead to increased anxiety and a sense of helplessness. I can help you cope with those feelings in a healthy and constructive way.

The purest form of listening is to listen without memory or desire.
